Laser Liposuction for Tampa, Trinity, Palm Harbor, Wesley Chapel, Tarpon Springs, New Port Richey, & Surrounding Communities in Florida

Although hundreds of thousands of men and women have trusted liposuction to help them eliminate excess fat from facial and bodily areas, there is now a new alternative for eliminating stubborn bulges: laser liposuction. At the Bayside Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. John Roach is excited to offer residents in Tampa, Trinity, Palm Harbor, Carrollwood, Westchase, Spring Hill, and throughout the Tampa Bay area one of the latest technological advancements in plastic surgery.

What to expect during laser liposuction

Laser liposuction is said to offer patients the same results of traditional liposuction, but with less bruising, discomfort, and recovery time. It involves a small, thin tube known as a cannula that has a laser attached to its end. Dr. Roach makes small incisions and inserts the cannula into the body. The laser fires at the fat pockets and “melts” the fat into liquid, which is then suctioned out or eliminated naturally by the body.

Because the incisions are so small, patients are usually given localized anesthesia rather than general anesthesia making the procedure safer and more cost effective. The small incisions also decrease the pain and bruising sometimes linked to traditional liposuction, which in turn allows patients to recover quicker.

Laser liposuction can be used to treat smaller areas than traditional liposuction thanks to the precision of the cannula and laser. Treatable areas include the upper arms, knees, ankles, back, and chin, as well as larger areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks and thighs. You are an ideal candidate for laser liposuction if you are about 25 pounds from your ideal weight, are in good health, and have one or more body fat areas that can’t be eliminated with diet or exercise.

Potential Surgical Risks

You may experience some bruising, slight discomfort, and swelling after your procedure. Although some refer to laser liposuction as the “lunch time lipo,” because of its quick recovery time, Dr. Roach says patients will typically need at least one to two days before returning to work. Bandages are usually removed within one to two weeks after the procedure.
